Here’s How to Hide “Online” Status on Telegram

The popularity of the Telegram instant messaging application is skyrocketing amid the pandemic. Until the second week of January alone, Telegram has managed to add 500 million monthly active users. This is a result of WhatsApp’s decision, which recently introduced a new privacy policy and terms of service to its users.

At first glance, Telegram offers various features similar to WhatsApp. Users can send messages in the form of text, videos, images, and various moving emojis. In addition, similar to WhatsApp, Telegram can also display user’s online status information.

This information will appear when the user uses the Telegram application, either when sending messages or simply reading received messages. However, there are times when users don’t want their status to be known to others for privacy reasons.

First of all, open the Telegram application that is already installed on your phone. Then, select the three-striped icon located on the top left side of the app. Click the Settings menu and select the Privacy and Security option. After selecting the Privacy and Security option, click the Last Seen & Online option in the Privacy sub-menu.

Furthermore, users can freely choose who can see the online status of the user. Users can select the My Contacts option if they want to activate the status of the recipients who are already registered in the contact. Conversely, users can also disable online status completely by selecting the “Nobody” option.

When the settings have been completed, continue by clicking the “tick” icon located on the top right side of the application A notification will appear confirming that the settings will be applied immediately. Users just click the Ok button.
